Kinja'd!!!

Did you know that the American Heathcare System sucks gigantic robot turtle balls covered in rotten swiss cheese, dog fur, and hot sour mayo.

We were headed out to the lake for my sisters 18th birthday when she started getting crazy abdominal pains. She was screaming and crying from the pain. The only place close was 25 minutes away at a random 24hr emergency room things. Even though my parents are paying $1,200 a month for healthcare, it doesn't cover emergency rooms unless a doctor (some shitty ass one approved by the healthcare company next to a ghetto ass grocery store) tell the company to go to an emergency room.

Idk, maybe it was my parents choosing the wrong plan or coverage. Either way, this little trip has me (the only one that brought a wallet) $1400 down for meds and a shot.

It's funny that they will not take us in unless they squared away a form of payment. The place is empty.

My mom needs a minor surgery for her gaul bladder or however you spell it. As Mexican national, for a little over $1000 she can get the procedure done. That's less than what they payfor extremely shitty Healthcare here in Murica. As for meds, pretty much all my family in Mexico are MD's. I went to a off brand medicine lab Near Guadalajara once with them. Holy modern and state of the art facility Batman!

Basically, unless you are super rich, beyond broke, or a prisoner/terrorist, healthcare is not worth it in Murica right?

I mean it could be us doing something wrong right?

To make this car related, their ambulances were all Merc Sprinter van things. On the way to the lake i saw 2 new Vipers, a niice 68 GTO, a Raptor completely done up trophy truck style, and my dad's truck just passed the 550K miles on the ticker.

Thanks for reading my sheeeet rant. What sweet cars can you find on your local CL for $1400?

The picture above is at my wife's house. Making some ribs on the grill that day as a Jetta sits and waits. SOON

I never had to pay for anything like this... I can go to the emergency room anytime I need. I didn't imagine that a shitty healthcare cost that much in the US though... 1200$ a month for a family is insane, absolutly insane.

You were the only one with a wallet??

The lesson here is "don't go anywhere without proof of insurance."

Your sister/parents should be able to provide their billing dept with her insurance deets, and if the chart shows it was an emergency condition the insurer ought to pay.

But it's still a wasteful "system." So much effort getting care paid for.

You need to report them then, an emergency is required by law to treat you regardless of if you can pay or not:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Emergency…

Individuals requesting emergency care , or those for whom a representative has made a request if the patient is unable, must receive a medical screening examination to determine whether an emergency medical condition (EMC) exists. The participating hospital cannot delay examination and treatment to inquire about methods of payment or insurance coverage, or a patient's citizenship or legal status. The hospital may only start the process of payment inquiry and billing once they have ensured that doing so will not interfere with or otherwise compromise patient care.

Also I think your parents chose the wrong plan, most plans cover emergency room visits and they don't require a referral.

No I don't know all about how the U.S. operates it's system but it shouldn't be about money.

I know I'm going to get shot down for this but (yes I know the U.K. system isn't perfect by a long way) I can't believe a country is happy to spend so much on it's military and not look after it's people who need care especially emergency care. Obama has tried over and over to address it and he gets shot down repeatedly which I find ironic when some guy/gal goes on the loose with a gun the cry is for more people to be armed and not control (which is what the majority of the world says is needed).

I hope your sister is feeling better or has gotten better.

As indifferent as I am about being in a union for work, and how St.Louis is still Union strong.

Having healthcare insurance paid for by union dues & deductions has been a blessing. It seems that as soon as everyone is healthy for a fee months something happens where one of us needs to head to urgent care or hospital.

It was way worse when the kids were younger, always something, and if it wasn't one it was the other.

Quick glance at insurance card is $75 copay for ER & then what ever they don't cover.

In March I had to go to an Urgent Care due to asthma, this is the bill for a 45 minute visit.

$285 fucking dollars for the use of an $85 dollar machine. $187 dollars for an injection(not including the medicine) from someone who is payed less than $13/hour.

lol and we don't either usually (Mexico flag) because we all are either Mexican nationals or have dual citizenship. Oh well, one has to work hard to be broke here in Murica though. Middle class gets it up the butt the worst. With no lube, because it's not covered by our plan lol

Trust me there is a lot that insurance doesn't cover so months after we get bills from $3.28-$760 but them look at the $2,400 bill and that $760 ain't so bad.

I know of some guys that took a ambulance like that and made it a tow vehicle for rally events & sleep arrangements.

thats for both 944s ones a parts car. I already have 3 project cars & 2 wheeler, after that corvette value Post this morning thinking more about getting wife he "dream car" a C3 vette because "dem hips" which she means the fender arches.

yeah i think so dude. My little sister was in tears amd moaning from the pain. We spent 15 min discussing what was covered and not covered. I told her "fuck it i'll pay just take her" She said she still has to check all this other shit first (i guess to see if they can milk the policy). After the 15 minutes they took her in. First thing the doctor told my little sister was "ok, i'm going to ask you to stop screaming now!" If my parents were not there i would of fucked some shit up after hearing that. I was pissed and my mom told me to go outside and calm down.

yeah i think they are just going to cancel it. México is not to far from here and they are Mexican nationals. All of us have dual citizenships. But for things like this, we are better off just paying for it like today.

and for shiiiitty coverage. My mom went to get a check up and the company told her to see their doctor instead of her long time doctor. Dude it was the shittiest little shit clinic next to a grocery store in an even worse part of town than we live. It take a lot for me to call a place shitty compared to my hood. Not worth $1200 a month.

The main problem is the insurance. The quality of care is excellent. Insurance though can really f you over. But if government coverage would work here as other countries (hopefully without their issues, like long waits for specialized care) this needs to be handled on the state level. The fed would just f up

I read they had a girl still in law school become AG for the area. Her first day the head of the old one was left on her doorstep. She was in El Paso seeking asylum within the month.

I understood the US Border Guards were excessive for a reason. When I got accross the bridge and the Mexican Customs, Federal Police AND the army were there, I grew concerned. When i realized the Machine Gun nests and troops were looking into Mexico I may have Peed a Little.

My old roomate worked for the same company as I, but just outside Monterrey. He had better stories and footage. His ethnic melange of an appearance allowed him to blend.

I'm so insulated here I worry about the wrong parts of Toronto. Like City Hall.

yeah she was like 20 years old. My cousin was in the US Border Patrol. They help people in need and book the accordingly, but always have to watch their bacl for heavily armed drug runners.

Mexico is beautiful land with awesome modern cities and and sights to see. So much culture. BUT, northern Mexico is pretty much a war zone.

Some people tell me Toronto is really nice and some tell me never to go lol.

Healthcare is not cheap. I can put it in the same category as airlines. It can be

A)Safe,

B)cheap,

C) effective

Now pick 2. I put it in with airlines because people "don't want to pay for this, or that" and then wonder why their stuck on the runway 2 hours on a Spirit airlines flight without a functioning bathroom. Canadians and Europeans pay much more in taxes as a huge amount of that is going towards their healthcare. In the US that has been taken over by the private industry(insurance).

The second reason is the insurance companies suck. There is no incentive for the improvement. Are you going to go someplace else? Odds are if its offered through work then, no.

And lastly hospitals. Are you going to shop around at 2:00am for the best emergency room? No.

Ah yes, the worst part of "all capitalism all the time" - even your life has a price tag. Not saying the "obamacare" improvements changed much in any meaningful way besides bring out the fear mongerers and lies (from both sides) but what I found funny was the complaint of "death panels" which weren't even there while tax paying, natural born citizens die every year because they can't afford to not die. Here's a random thought - let's stop spending on other things and just make sure we can all live. Or is that too "socialist" these days?
